Advice for the New Mom

Cole had his last baby shower on Saturday. It was so much fun. Thanks Aunt Dana and Grandma Wendy for throwing it! Here were some of the parenting tips I received:
- When watching other people's kids-never say "My child won't do that"
- Simplify life, don't worry about a perfect clean house, take care of yourself and your marriage.
- Never wake a sleeping baby
- Read to him lots and lots and lots
- Just tell him you love him every day of his life!
- Always make sure the high chair is latched all the way when feeding
- The "2's" aren't so terrible, but beware of the "3's", the fun really begins
- Sanitize
-Hold him in your arms as long as he will allow it
-When your child becomes a teenager and young adult-no matter what plans they tell you-take a deep breath, smile and say"well OK then have fun with it" And remember back!
- A little dirt never hurt-rest when you can-take lots of pictures-they grow fast-enjoy every stage as much as you can!

Cole and Mommy

Hi! We are doing well, except that our days are going too fast! Cole is getting so big, I weighed him on the scale with me yesterday and it said 9lbs! Not sure how accurate that is, but you can tell he is getting big by looking at his checks! So I went for the Mommy cut, I cut 11 inches off my hair. I donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths for women with cancer. I sent it in honor of my sister-in-law who is battling breast cancer. We love you Melanie and are inspired by your strength! Thanks Randi for the cute pictures, I especially like the one of Cole!

4 weeks 1 day

Whoops... it is Wednesday today not Tuesday. Cole is 4 weeks 1 day... Mommy kind of looses track of time and days. Got to go, Beretta puked all over the basement, better go clean it up. Gross... guess I have 2 babies to take care of. Poor girl she must have ate something bad... probably outside with all of the snow melting!

4 weeks today

Cole is 4 weeks old today, hard to believe it has gone so fast! He is such a good little baby. He is eating well and getting big. He makes all kinds of preemie noises at night (Grunting, sighing, etc), makes it hard to sleep sometimes, but I am not complaining :) He has been more awake during the day and even cries sometimes! My brother took this pic!

First trip to the Cabin!

Cole had his first trip to the cabin this weekend. It went well and his great-grandparents had pleanty of time to hold and play with him. Great-grandma Miller was teaching him 1-2-3 during his awake time. I will try to post pics later. He also got to meet his great-great aunt and uncle! He was spoiled this weekend... there was not too many times when he was not being held or played with. He is getting to be such a big boy and awake and interacting more. He is such a joy and a blessing. Cole was sad to leave his grandparents but happy to get home to see his Daddy and Beretta! It was a very nice weekend. Now we are looking forward to some more walks outside in this nice weather!

Play Time!

Cole is starting to be a little more awake lately. It seams during the evening just after dinner he is awake and ready to play for an hour or so. He enjoys looking at mommy and daddy's faces and he also likes to watch his mobile, and play on his mat on the floor. It has a light up star that plays music. It is so cute to see him more awake lately. He also smiles when Grandma Wendy plays patty cake with him :) I want him to stay little forever, but it is fun to see him more awake and interactive! Speaking of... Cole is awake and hungry, got to go.

Can we say Hunter?

Here is Cole with his first big present. Grandpa Chirs (Weegman) gave him a new Ruger 22 Riffle. The only thing he is missing is the Camouflage. The lucky boy is spoiled already!

Fingers and Toes

I know that his hand looks little here, but Cole really has big hands with long fingers!

Cole just got to watch his first Wild game. Yeah Wild! So glad the game was on regular TV tonight (since we don't have cable). I think we will have to take him to a Wild game next year!

Cole loves his daddy time! Jason can't wait until he is big enough to work in the garage with him!

Weight Check

Cole was 6lb 9oz today! He is growing just fine so he doesn't need to go back to the doctors until he is 2 months old! I am sure that will be here before we know it. I wish there were more hours in the day and he would grow a little slower!

Hands

When I don't have Cole's hands swadled tight in his blanket he likes to have them folded. I wonder what he is praying about?

Eyes Open

Still not sure what color Cole's eyes will be but they have been more open lately. Not the best pictures, but the moments are short... I take what I can get :)
