Happy One Month Rylin!

Wearing my old bonnet... and maybe my mom's too.

This is Rylin's bassinet. It is my mom and dad's. It was my dad's when he was a baby and maybe even my grandma's when she was a baby. Lots of babies have been through it. Dad got the camouflage cover made when Cole was born. He used it at their house, we had a different bassinet for him here that was borrowed, it was also an old one that my grandmother's friend's had when she was a baby. That family also had a greatgrand baby after Cole so we had to give it back. So Dad asked if it was okay if Rylin slept in camouflage or if we should get a new cover made. I said she would be just fine in camouflage :)

These are my favorite PJ's of her's and she is almost too big for them :(
They say Daddy's Little Girl.
This night she slept from 11pm until 10am and was up one time at 5 to eat. Such a good little baby.

Jump, Jump, Jump!

Westerman Family Reunion

The jumping pit!

The first thing Cole found was the tractor, he didn't even care about the jumping pit, just wanted to ride the tractor :)

Boy did the kids have fun!

The Weekend

Saturday we went to the Westerman Family Reunion (Jason's mom's side of the family). We had so much fun! It was nice to see that side of the family, we usually only see them once a year. There were tons of little kids for Cole to play with, he had a blast. I will try to post some pics soon! Rylin was a good girl, slept pretty much the whole time :) We had so much fun we wish we could do it again sooner. It was a beautiful day!

Today was supper windy! We lost our power for almost 2 hours... back on now (obviously).

Cole woke up with a 101 fever and it was 103 after his nap! He is acting fine otherwise and has eaten more food today than he usually does so not sure what is going on. Bummer for him and I really hope Rylin doesn't get it! Funny I am the one who washes my kids hands 24-7 and avoids public places so he doesn't get sick and now he is sick. O'well they can't live in a bubble!

Rylin rolled over today. She has been trying to do it for a while, she finally got it. From her back to her stomach and then she was sleeping hard about 2 seconds after she rolled, guess she wanted to sleep on her belly... naughty girl, doesn't she know the pediatrician wont let her do that :) Cole didn't roll until he was 6 months so I am not sure what she is doing rolling so early! We'll see if it happens again.

Jason leaves for out of town tomorrow morning until Thur night so I hope Cole is feeling better tomorrow, it will already be a long week and will be worse if he is sick too!

Forgetting...

It's funny how fast we forget... maybe it is our bodies natural way of dealing with things so that you will do it again. I am talking about pregnancy and childbirth. I swore when I was prego with Cole and felt like I had a 24 hour hang over all the time that I would never do it again, it was so awful. And now I have Rylin. And after she was born I swore we were done, the pain was just too bad. My mind must already be forgetting because I would do it again for her anytime. I even find myself saying it really wasn't that bad. I obviously have amnesia! I think until now I was not sure if I wanted to be done having kids or not, than today I got emotional thinking about her being my last... very emotional. Don't get me wrong, I have horrible pregnancies and 2 small children, we will not be having another one anytime soon... And I feel completely blessed to have my healthy family. But at least I know the door is still open for the future :) Or at least that is what my husband has told me to make me feel better :)

What am I saying... I think I must have fallen off my rocker. I will chalk this one up to postpartum emotions...

Jump Cole!

Sorry for all of the post, just trying to get a few pics up!

Cole thinking he is old enough to use the computer.

He is getting so big. He helps with everything! The other day at my mom and dad's house he decided he was hungry, so he went to the cupboard and got out a bag of rice then went in the kitchen and got out a scissor to cup open the bag of rice, we were watching him this whole time, but it was so cute. He is growing so fast!

So things are going well here. Rylin is sleeping well at night, she goes about 6-7 hours, eats and goes another 4 hours so other than the interrupted sleep I really can't complain. Lets hope she keeps it that way. I am realizing how busy things are with 2! I am not sure how I am going to balance work and getting everything done at home. I feel like all I do is go, go, go and still can't get everything done. There defiantly is not enough time in the day. I swear our laundry has tripled... how can that be? It's just one tinny little person ;) Bedtime is our struggle. Rylin decides she likes to cry that time of night unless she is being held. I have been trying to give Cole 1-1 when we read books and go to bed since he spends the rest of the day with Rylin. It's fine when Jason is home, but when he works his 8 nights in a row it gets a little tricky. Cole has been a very good sport about it though! The other night they where both in the tub and Cole dumped some water on Rylin, I told him to be careful around her. A few minutes later she started to cry, I think he thought he did it so he started to cry too. I couldn't get either of them to stop crying and wasn't sure who to tend to first. Poor boy I have never seen him cry like that, Jason says he gets that from me :)

Uh oh!

My dad was working on a little project in the back yard on Sunday when he cut through this wire! Yikes! We thought for sure we had just cut the phone lines to the whole neighborhood! 2 hours later, one lost kid, and about 10 phone calls, the boys dug to follow the line and see where it went. Haha, it was a dead line, it ended about 3 feet from where it was cut! Thank goodness, that would have been an expensive project to fix. Needless to say dad will probably call before he digs next time... even though he knew there was nothing in the back yard. Sure gave us some excitement in the day. Oh yeah the lost kid... it was Cole, only for a few minutes. We were trying to decide who to call and realized all of the adults were in the house and Cole was not... luckily he is such a good boy and sticks around, he had went to the garage to get a hand shovel and took it out back to help "bumpa" dig a bigger hole around the wire. He is such a big helper :)

Mommy's Photo shoot

So I attempted a photo shot with the kids. It was really hard and didn't turn out well. O'well, enjoy the pics anyways.

If you are wondering about the snow boats, I tried them on Cole to see if they would fit this year. Well he was obsessed with them and wore them all day, even though it was 80 degrees outside! Crazy boy!

Cole's first appearance in the newspaper!

So the picture is kind of hard to see but that is Jason walking holding hands with Cole. On the way home from the hospital with Rylin we stopped at the Elk River Fireman's Open house for Cole to see the Firetrucks! He had fun. Of course I did not have my camera handy but someone snapped a photo of him :) Everyone was impressed with seeing a 26 hour old infant, I thought her picture would make the paper, guess not. But little Cole Monkey did :)

Picture update!

Things are going well. Rylin is waking up for her feedings and has even been awake other than her feedings a few times. I am sure the older she gets the more of her eyes we will see. Her due date is tomorrow! Hard to believe she has already been here 3 weeks, wow the time flies! I am just trying to enjoy it as much as possible whiel still keeping up with the house, Cole, Jason, and such. It sure is busy around here. I have only napped during the day once since she got home! Mostly because when Cole is down I have a million things I want to get done, like update my blog:) I can't complain, life is good! Love these 2 kidos with all my heart!

Aunt Dana!

Family Photo!
Las weekend Aunt Dana came home from Montana to meet Rylin. She was only here for a few days but it was nice to see her!

The first Curtis Family photo from the State Fair when Rylin was 3 days old. Too bad Cole isn't looking at the camera :)

To be thankful...

Today I am extremely sad and also very thankful all at the same time. This story is very sad and hard to read so I will just give you the basics of what I know. Jason's old co-worker had a baby on 8-30... 2 days after Rylin was born. The baby had some complications and is still in the hospital but is expected to do well. The mother, Bri, on the other hand is not doing so well. She had some complications related to pregnancy and has been fighting for her life since the baby was born. A few days ago she was airlifted to Mayo in Rochester where she received a liver transplant. Despite all of the dr's efforts she has massive brain damage and they are taking her off of life support today. She never even got to be awake to meet her precious baby. I am so sad for her and her family and so thankful that I am here and healthy with my family. Life is precious. Take time to really love your family, kiss your kids and husband today. Please pray for Bri and her family.

Smell be gone!

The smell is almost completely gone. You really have to stick your nose down there to even catch a hint of it. And not drainage so I canceled our dr's apt. I am so scared of Rylin or Cole getting sick that I didn't want to drag both of them to the clinic if I didn't have to. They said to just watch it close, but sounds like it will be fine! Good thing because I really didn't want to have to give her antibiotics at such a young age, but I will watch it for the weekend and hope it only gets better! Dana (my sister) is in town so we are off to hang out with her today!

Bili down!

Sorry I forgot to post about Rylin's bili on Tue. It was 12.8! Still on it's way down so we don't have to have it checked anymore... woo hoo! I also checked her weight, she was 7lb 8oz, past her birth weight so she is doing great there! Of course I was hoping not to have to take her back to the dr's until she was 2 months old, but today her umbilical cord fell off and it smells really bad (like fish). So we are going in tomorrow to make sure she doesn't have an infection. Poor little girl.

poop

Cole got pooped on. Rylin pooped all over him. His shirt, shorts, and feet were covered in poop. I think it scared him, he cried. Poor guy. Yet he still stands in the same place when we change Rylin's diaper even though we tell him to move. I guess he is asking for it. This all happened 2 hours after I warned Jason to be careful changing Rylin's diapers because newborns can squirt poop. Haha... poor Cole.

Rylin's First Bath

This is mostly for Amy so she can get her dogs used to a crying baby before her baby arrives! But I thought a few of you might also like to see Rylin's first bath. Beware, there is lots of crying!

Cabin Pics

Cole helping wash the boat.

Check out this rope... I left it in the boat so I can try it next year!

12 ropes in the boat... we have skied with 7 people behind the boat at once, but never 12! I think we have enough ropes!

The mess from inside the boat!

Rylin
tanning in the sun.

Cole making his goofy scrunched up nose face!

Sleeping again, big surprise :)

Sweet baby.
